Collection: High-Pressure GDI Injector Cleaning & Flow Testing
Professional GDI Injector Cleaning & High-Pressure Flow Testing
Dedicated GDI test equipment. OEM-style test plans. Ultrasonic cleaning. Documented results.
The Injector Shop provides professional mail-in cleaning and flow testing for gasoline direct injection (GDI) fuel injectors. Unlike port injectors, GDI injectors operate at much higher fuel pressures and must be evaluated under the proper conditions to accurately assess their performance.
Our dedicated GDI test equipment operates at actual injector operating pressures using OEM-style test plans. Each injector is ultrasonically cleaned and then tested for leakage and flow performance at multiple pressure and operating points.
Why Proper GDI Testing Matters
-
Testing at Actual Operating Pressure
GDI injectors are tested on dedicated high-pressure equipment—not a low-pressure port injector flow bench. -
Ultrasonic Cleaning
External carbon contamination is removed from the injector nozzle and discharge area to restore proper spray and allow accurate testing. -
Leak & Flow Testing
Injectors are checked for leakage and measured for flow performance under multiple test conditions. -
New Service Components
Service includes replacement of the micro filter, fuel rail O-ring, and Teflon combustion seal as applicable. -
Individual Test Reports
Testing results are documented so you can see how each injector performed.
Cleaning Does Not Guarantee a Passing Injector
GDI injectors can suffer from internal wear, electrical problems, leakage, or flow-related failures that cleaning cannot repair. Our service is designed to clean and accurately evaluate the injector—not to hide a failing injector or guarantee that every injector will pass.
If an injector fails testing due to an internal condition that cannot be corrected through cleaning, replacement may be required.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why can't GDI injectors be tested on a standard port injector bench?
GDI injectors operate at substantially higher fuel pressures. Accurate evaluation requires equipment capable of operating the injector under representative high-pressure conditions. -
Do you test the injectors before cleaning?
No. GDI injectors are cleaned before flow testing so carbon contamination does not interfere with the test results. -
Can you tell if an injector is leaking?
Yes. Leak testing is included as part of the post-cleaning testing process. -
Will cleaning fix a bad GDI injector?
Not always. Cleaning can correct contamination-related problems, but it cannot repair internal wear, electrical faults, or mechanical damage. -
What do I receive after testing?
Individual test results are provided for the injectors so you can review their measured performance. -
How long does service take?
Current turnaround is typically about 2 business days after the injectors arrive.
